Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb (UK) on X: "My official ...

It is my decision moving the operational headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos and not that of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television last night,Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development,Barrister Festus Keyamo said that he took the decision after the management of the Authority t had pleaded with him to move their operational  base to Lagos..

He said the management staff told him that they spent N450m on air ticket shuttling between Lagos and Abuja alone just to append their signatures to a simple document.

According to Keyamo,President Ahmed Tinubu had no hand in the  relocation plan.He said, costs operational efficiency were some of the factors that influenced the decision.

The Minister stated that the movement of FAAN headquarters  to Lagos will have cost-saving measures by eliminating Daily Transport Allowance (DTA) and airfare tickets for staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), resulting in significant financial savings amounting to close to a billion Naira..

On flight cancellation and flight delay,Keyamo said that the Government will implement a policy of name and shame for airlines that frequently cancel or delay flights.

He further stated that the aim is  to hold airlines accountable for their performance and ensure improved service delivery to passengers.

The Minister outlines his strategic approach towards revitalizing Nigeria’s aviation sector, focusing on enhancing safety, infrastructure development, cost-efficiency, passengers’ experience, and accountability.

These initiatives, if effectively implemented, have the potential to elevate Nigeria’s aviation industry to greater heights, fostering economic growth and global competitiveness, he added.
