Three aviation unions ready for nationwide strike
Three major aviation unions have directed their members to get ready for indefinite national wide strike being planned by the Nigeria Labour Congress starting from October 3,2023.
The unions are Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association Of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineer (NAAPE) Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP).
The unions said in a a letter to their branches said”As you are all aware, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have directed all Nigerian workers to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike as result of massive suffering, impoverishment and hunger in the land due to the hike in price of petrol”.
“Accordingly, as affiliates of the two Labour Centres, we are obligated to mobilize effectively for the action.”
“All branches of the above named Unions are hereby directed to coalesce within the Joint Action Committee( JAC) of your various organizations, together with the respective State Councils of the NLC and TUC in all the states for the nationwide strike commencing from zero hour of Tuesday 3d day of October, 2023.
Comrade frances AkinjolePrincipal Deputy Geneneral Sectretary ATSSSAN said that by this circular, all employers in the aviation industry, security agencies are accordingly notified.
