Oman Air Joins Oneworld Alliance
The flag carrier of Oman has joined the oneworld alliance as its fifteenth member airline.
Starting July 1, customers flying with oneworld airlines can earn and redeem miles and points on Oman Air. Similarly, Oman Air passengers will get access to oneworld benefits, including access to hundreds of premium airport lounges.
Oneworld officials said the arrangement will help support the growth of Oman Air’s route network, including new nonstop service between Oman’s capital Muscat and Amsterdam, which is also set to launch July 1.
“Oman Air brings valuable strategic reach and award-winning product and service to the alliance,” said Nat Pieper, CEO of oneworld, in a news release. “This partnership opens up exciting new connections for our customers, particularly across the Gulf and South Asia, and reinforces oneworld’s position as the premium alliance for international travelers.”
Oman Air has its main hub at Muscat International Airport. It serves 42 destinations in 22 countries and territories.
The service between Muscat and Amsterdam, first announced in April, will operate four times per week during the summer using a Boeing 787-9.
Oneworld’s members include American, Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, Japan Airlines, and Qatar Airways, among others.
