Nigeria is capable of feeding the whole Africa if her citizens are aware of the opportunities available to them in the continent.

Group Managing Director of Nigeria Aviation Handling Company(NAHCO) Indranil Gupta made this known over the weekend while addressing the press.

“I know that Nigeria can be the food basket of the continent if the producers and farmers are availed of the potentials of the continent”.

To him,it is more profitable to export than to import because processing improves quality, adding that NAHCO is more inclined to export.

Gupta disclosed that his company invested N1billion in exporting centre in Lagos with a view to extending it to Kano,Abuja,Enugu and Port Harcourt if the Lagos centre yields good result.

In his words”the idea is that Nigeria will be one shop where they will be well sorted out, arranged and packaged before being transported.

He said NAHCO would have done better but for the declining in the value of the Nigerian currency, the Naira against other major currency.

According to him,the cost of doing business has escalated but however optimistic of better days ahead.

Also speaking,Group Executive Director,Saheed Lasisi stated that NAHCO is leading  the exportation process with farmers.

“Our focus is to encourage Nigeria exporters and farmers. Some of our staff were in London for training on packaging and others recently and we have also identify five major airports for this.
