NCAA has consumer protection desks in 22 airports-Najomo
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) has consumer protection desks in twenty two airports in the country to attend to passengers that are not satisfied with the manner they are treated by airlines.
Acting Director General of the Nigerian aviation regulatory agency,Capt.Chris Najomo revealed this while speaking with journalists in Lagos.
He said that in any flight delay or outright cancellation of flight,it is the duty of the consumer protection department to investigate once it received the complain from aggrieved passengers what caused the disruption of the operation.
According to him, the outcome of the investigation will determine what type of action the Authority will take against such airline. It could be to provide refreshment for the passengers or refund of the money for the ticket to the passengers.
Capt.Najomo stated that NCAA protects both the airlines and the consumers of aviation services, adding that portals are being put in place in the airports for consumers who are not pleased with the service from service providers in our airports.
“A lot of sensitization is on going to enlighten passengers. Some passengers do not know their rights”,he noted.
On the financial straight of NCAA,Najomo said that most of the airlines are owing the Agency.
He said the Agency has been appealing to them to pay up or reschedule their payment with a firm promise that they will not fail.”We need the money to run the NCAA.We are not going to joke with the debt recovery”.
