Institutional Strengthening :NLNG,Nigerian Content Development Board,Monitoring Board members visit NCAT
The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board paid a working visit to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria on an Institutional Strengthening Initiative.
This visit was preceded by an earlier visit in August of 2024, which was a needs assessment visit.
This collaboration/Partnership marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, Nigeria LNG Limited and Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board.
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, (formerly known as Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre) was set up by Act. No 31 of 1964 to train aviation professionals.
The Centre was established as a joint programme between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
This joint programme came to an end on 31st December, 1974. Accordingly, the Federal Government of Nigeria assumed full responsibility for the continued management and operations of the College.
Currently, the College established ACT OF 1964 was replaced with established ACT of 2022 to include the provision of academic qualifications. The College is also accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
NCAT is committed to producing world-class aviation professionals equipped with the technical knowledge, discipline, and moral integrity required in today’s competitive global aviation industry.
For five years in a row, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has given NCAT the award of the highest number of trained Instructors.
Additionally, NCAT now holds the prestigious position as one of the four ICAO Training Centre for Excellence in Africa and, with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Platinum Excellence status.
This kind of Industry support is vital, given pivotal role that the NCAT plays, as Nigeria’s premier institution for training and provision of professionals for the aviation industry.
The aviation industry is highly regulated and demands utmost alertness, commitment, and professionalism which is the only way to achieve the safety and security demands of Air Transportation.
The NLNG/NCDMB seeks to intervene in the areas of infrastructural development and equipment upgrade for NCAT, in order to elevate the quality of aviation training.
