Hard time awaits any ATSSSAN member caught with illicit substances

The President of Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Comrade John Ogala Ogbe, has assured the management of the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO), that ATSSSAN will not spare any member who indulges in illicit substances at the airport.
Speaking while leading the new executives of ATSSSAN on a courtesy visit to the management of SAHCO, Comrade Ogbe promise to work with other unions towards concretely addressing the menace.
The ATSSSAN boss advised the SAHCO management to commence the implementation of the staff long service award as stipulated in the conditions of service.
Comrade Ogbe called on the management to endeavour to prioritise women in the outstation trainings whenever opportunities present themselves.
The ATSSSAN president thanked the SAHCO boss for her warm reception reiterating, that one of the major hallmarks of ATSSSAN was genuine collaboration, as ATSSSAN understood the dynamics and sensitive nature of the aviation industry.
He encouraged SAHCO management to accord genuine trust to the branch executives in their organisation as they were freely elected by members of ATSSSAN in SAHCO, pledging collaboration with SAHCO.
Earlier, while welcoming the executives of ATSSSAN, the Managing Director of SAHCO, Mrs Adenike Aboderin, described Comrade Ogbe as someone deeply passionate about workers’ welfare, as demonstrated by his role in the struggles for workers’ interests during his time as an exco member at FAAN.
Mrs Aboderin appreciated his dogged nature when they used to meet at negotiations that concerned FAAN.
She acknowledged that SAHCO and the Union are indeed working towards the same end, although through different routes.
The SAHCO boss noted that unionism should now be done in a manner that synchronises with the realities of the 21st century.
According to her, discipline should be a watchword for ATSSSAN noting, that membership in a union should not be taken as a liberty to encourage truancy.
Mrs Aboderin encouraged ATSSSAN to continue to mentor members against the culture of illicit substances because it was assuming an alarming dimension.
She said SAHCO was not relenting in its efforts towards seeing to the happiness of its workforce which has led to the recent upgrading of the workers’ salaries by 40%.
Accordingly to Mrs Aboderin, the long service award has been approved, but there was a backlog, which management was already addressing.
