Green Africa, Nigeria’s Lagos-based value airline, has announced the appointment of Captain Bart Roberts as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a member of the Company’s senior leadership team.

In this role, Capt. Bart will assume responsibility for Flight Operations, Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC), Operational Safety, Airport Services, and Training.

He will also work closely with the Founder & CEO, Babawande Afolabi, and the senior leadership team to provide overall strategic direction for the Company.

Capt. Bart brings over four decades of leadership experience in the global aviation industry to Green Africa.

He joins the company from Cirrus Aircraft in McKinney, Texas, where he served as Executive Director with responsibility for Flight Training.

Prior to his time at Cirrus Aircraft, Capt. Bart served as Vice President of Flight Operations at JetBlue, where he led the airline’s 2,800 pilots across its network.

His extensive career also includes 28 years at American Airlines, where he held numerous key leadership positions, including Chief Pilot, Managing Director of Flight Operations, Check Airman, and Fleet Training Manager.

In addition to his commercial aviation career, Capt. Bart served in the United States Navy and Navy Reserve for 25 years, retiring with the rank of Captain (O-6).

His commitment to the industry is further demonstrated by his community service; he was a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operations Council and currently serves on the Board of Women in Aviation International (WAI).
