FG empowers agencies to deliver mandate
The Federal Government has given the assurance that its aviation Agencies will continue to work assiduously towards the achievements of their individual mandates and in line with the laws establishing them. Hassan Ejubu Director Air transport represented the Permanent Secretary
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace,Dr.Emmanuel Meribole made the position of the Government known while speaking at the 27th Conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos.
He explained that it is in realization of the facts that aviation is dynamic which at times require changing strategies, when necessary, that the Ministry got the 9th National Assembly to work on the enabling laws of the Agencies to give them the required impetus to deliver on their mandates.
While this is in line with the ICAO Recommended Practices,Meribole said that he is particularly confident that with the new enabling Acts, the Agencies under the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace should be able to deliver without any form of encumbrances.
“ As a Ministry, we shall continue to adhere to our mandate of formulation and implementation of policies and programmes on civil aviation and overseeing air transportation, airport development and infrastructural facilities, management, provision of Aviation provision of aviation security. improvement of airspace management and other needs in conformity with international standards and best practices.”
As a crucial stakeholder in the aviation industry, he noted, the Ministry would continue to collaborate and synergize with LAAC to ensure that the aviation industry continues to make giant strides in Nigeria.
He called on media practitioners to always verify and confirm information on issues through official channels.
“The Media space is awashed with misinformation and disinformation in which, if not carefully verified, and painstakingly investigated is capable of threatening peace and unity in our dear Nation.”
According to the Permanent Secretary,the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents has onerous duty to inform, educate and communicate the aviation industry in Nigeria through factual, concise and unbiased reportage.
“ Let me take this opportunity to state that he Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace has over the years, consistently supported LAAC and other media stakeholders considering the crucial role the men of the pen play in information dissemination.”
The Ministry, according to him, would continue to maintain the tempo of collaboration and cooperation to ensure that our people get the best services required in the aviation industry in Nigeria.
He requested that the League make available to the Ministry, the Communiqué issued at the end of the Conference, as the Ministry can leverage it to get more perspectives for the purpose of improving aviation in Nigeria.
