The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA)  and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have assured all airlines operating in Nigeria, including Turkish Airways and the general public of their commitment to ensuring safety and secure flights.

The two aviation agencies made this known in a joint press release signed by Mrs.Obiageli Orah,FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection and Michael Achimugu,NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection after meetings have been held between the NCAA, FAAN, and Turkish Airline, and NCAA and representatives of the  unions.

They indicated that the issues which led to the picketing of Turkish Airlines’ operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos by  the Nigeria Labour Congress on Tuesday, 21st of May, 2024, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) along with  its sister agency, the Federal Airports Authority (FAAN), have engaged all stakeholders to bring an amicable end to  the impasse.

“While Nigeria does not tolerate disruptive behaviour at her airports, FAAN has deployed additional layers of  security to prevent any further disruptions.”

“The issues leading to this unfortunate incident are resolvable and must be done with respect to the law. The NCAA  strongly advises persons and groups to desist from disrupting airport operations as it has serious safety and  economic implications for the industry.”

They indicated that the Authorities empathize with stranded passengers,  during the disruption particularly children and the elderly who have been put  through indescribable inconvenience.

“ We are doing everything possible to ensure that passengers travel without  further delay. “

They emphatically stated that NCAA and FAAN will continue to engage Turkish Airlines and the unions in hopes that these issues are resolved  amicably and permanently.
