FAAN task force arrests five suspected undesirable elements at Lagos Airport, its environs
The Joint Monitoring Task Force (JMTF) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport ,Lagos ,on Friday, January 12 , 2024 carried out a raid of the Joint Users Hydriant Installation (JUHI) Canal and the International Access Road Bridge at about 1638hrs
During the raid, it was discovered that shanties have been erected by miscreants in close proximity to NAHCO Bridge.
The JMTF dismantled these shanties and subsequently arrested five miscreants that have been handed over to the Aviation Security Crime Investigation and Intelligence Unit ( CIIU) for further interrogation and necessary action.
According to Mrs.Obiageli Orah,Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection,Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria,(FAAN),the Authority is warning the general public that any encroachment into the airport environment shall not be tolerated, and anyone who has no business at the airport should please stay away.
” It is lamentable to note the gradual transformation of the JUHI canal into a potential hideout for criminals,” she emphsised
She warned:”The Authority shall deal with anyone caught carrying out any act of vandalism or touting at the airports.”
