FAAN Prepares Two Major Airports for Ranking, Certification | THISDAYLIVE

 

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) has announced temporary closure of Runway 18R for urgent rehabilitation.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that, the closure which commenced at 03:00 hours on March 3, 2025, is scheduled to last until 23:59 hours on March 4, 2025.

Mrs. Obiageli Orah,Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection in a press release stated that  the rehabilitation focuses on the asphalt phase of the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway.

This essential maintenance is aimed at maintaining the airport’s infrastructure at optimal condition, ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of flight operations at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.

FAAN  said that during  the closure, all international flights have been redirected to the domestic runway.

The Authority has assured airlines and passengers that the temporary measure will not cause significant disruptions to flight schedules.

It  advised passengers and airline operators to take note of the operational adjustments and comply with all directives issued during the rehabilitation period.

The authority reiterated its commitment to upholding its core values of safety, security, and passenger comfort.
