…Some deliveries will be delayed as repairs take place.

Boeing has  flagged a wiring issue on certain undelivered 737 MAX aircraft and said deliveries of the type will be delayed while it makes repairs.

In a statement, the manufacturer said a machining error caused small scratches on the wires. Technicians are now in the process of redoing that work.

Some 737 MAX deliveries will be held up, Boeing said, and first-quarter delivery figures for the type could be affected.

The company did not say how many airplanes had the defective wiring installed.

Boeing is working to ramp up production after years of parts shortages and output limits imposed by regulators. The company said  that it delivered 51 commercial aircraft in February, up from 46 in January and its highest monthly total in years.

The wiring issue is not expected to throw off Boeing’s year-end delivery targets for the 737 MAX.
