It was a day of funfair, games, networking and collaboration as the Aviators Circle debut in Lagos with an inaugural hangout featuring Aviation professionals across different government agencies and airlines.

The Aviator Circle was conceived to serve as a hub for professional development, mentorship, collaboration, networking and innovation among young aviation professionals in Nigeria.

While declaring the inaugural event opened, the Coordinator of the group, Obadofin Adeola, an Aeronautical Communications Officer stressed that there is a need to bridge the gap in professional development in the sector through knowledge and skills sharing, mentorship and career guide, safety and quality advocacy, innovation and research.

He also advocated for community and public awareness through quarterly aviation forum using webinars and or seminars, industry visits and guided tours to airports, control towers, maintenance hangars and many more.

There are plans on the way to kick start Award and Recognition System aimed at celebrating outstanding members, mentors and innovators annually.

While enjoining next generation of aviators to embrace this new initiative and platform, Engr. Koleade Omowon, an Air Traffic Engineer posits that “the future of aviation is in our hands and we have to be ready to key into it”.

He enjoined continued synergy and harmonious relationship between the sister agencies in the sector and the airlines so that safety, security and comfort of passengers would be our priority.

The event which took place at Opebi attracted large numbers of pilots, Engineers, Meteorologists, Cartographers, Aeronautical Information Officers, Aeronautical Communications Officers, Ticketing Officers, Flight dispatchers, cabin crew, Air traffic Controllers, Aviation Security Officers,Human Resource  Managers and many other professionals in the aviation sector.
