FAAN Responds Swiftly as Aircraft Suffers Nose-Landing Gear Failure at Enugu Airport

 

 

 

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) has made known that an aircraft with registration mark 5N-BNZ,while landing experienced nose wheel defect while landing at Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu on Thursday November 20,2025.

FAAN took immediate step to evacuate the passengers.None of them sustain any injury.

According to Mr Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection  in a press release,  the incident occurred at approximately 19:10 hours when the aircraft, arriving from Lagos, suffered a fault with its nose-landing gear upon touching down on Runway 08. The aircraft subsequently became immobile on the runway.

FAAN indicated that emergency response teams were swiftly mobilised to the scene as part of established safety protocols.

Airport emergency units, including fire tenders and medical personnel, were deployed to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and airport staff while securing the aerodrome.

All passengers and crew were safely disembarked from the aircraft and transported to the terminal using apron buses.

FAAN stated that the evacuation process was completed without any injuries and concluded at 19:48 hours.

The airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) remained on standby to secure the aircraft and the affected section of the airside.

FAAN reiterated that the safety of passengers, crew, and airport users remains its utmost priority. The authority also assured the public that further updates would be provided as more verified information becomes available.
