For obvious reasons, the Boeing 747 is increasingly uncommon in passenger flight discussions. Yet changes to the quadjet’s dwindling network continue to take place.

The latest development is that Air China will return the 747-8 to Washington Dulles, having last used the type there albeit infrequently in 2020.

It will become the world’s new longest 747-operated passenger service by time, but not by distance.

This development comes amid other changes. For example, the type’s return to Dulles means it has been pulled from Frankfurt. More significantly, Korean Air will cease using the 747 to Atlanta towards the end of March, ending the longest 747 service by distance.
