A United Nigeria Airlines aircraft with registration mark 5N-BWY has skidded off the runway at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

All the passengers on board the plane were evacuated safely with their pieces of luggage.

The heavy downpour which occurred in the area that made the runway to be flooded is said to be likely responsible for the incident.

The aircraft  was coming in from the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri.

.Relevant authorities have been informed about the incident.
