Two airlines have announced nonstop routes between Minneapolis and Dublin will begin taking flight next year.
Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus said service between the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and Dublin will officially resume April 29, 2024, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The Aer Lingus route will begin daily flights in the late fall, when new Airbus A321XLR aircraft are put into service. Travelers flying the route before then will be on an Airbus A330.
Delta also announced plans Thursday to launch a new route between MSP and Dublin, which will operate five times a week beginning May 9, 2024.
The Delta service between MSP and the Emerald Isle will be seasonal, with year-round service on the Dublin route taking off from JFK in New York.
In a statement, Metropolitan Airports Commission Chief Executive Officer Brian Rykes said Dublin is one of Europe’s most in-demand destinations for both business and leisure travel.
“Travelers throughout our region have been eagerly awaiting the return of this popular route, which also expands connectivity for passengers on both sides of the Atlantic,” he said.
The Dublin route from Aer Lingus was initially launched in summer 2019, but was among those scrapped in the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MSP-DUB service is one of 18 routes Aer Lingus will operate between Ireland and North America in 2024.
