Brainstorm for solutions, Med-View chairman tells indigenous airline operators

Alhaji Muneer Bankole

Chairman, Med-View Airline,Alhaji Muneer Bankole has called on airline proprietors  to brainstorm for solutions on the best way forward for the industry in Nigeria.

Speaking at sideline of just concluded conferece organized by the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondets which took place at Providence Hotel,GRA Ikeja Lagos,Bankole said that they should be honest  and sincere with themselves.

He advised that individual airline owners should not  flaunt their ego, rather should be honest and frank with a view to getting the best  in the over all interest for both service providers and consumers of aviation services.

“There is no sentiment about it. You have 17 aircraft, and you have five aircraft, go and put heads together and discuss with a good mind.”

Alhaji Bankole earnestly admonished the airline owners to” open your heart, and let people know who is speaking so that Nigeria can drive a new way forward.”

Asked if the government has been protecting the indigenous airlines with the various BASA arrangements it is signing with various countries?

“We are making a grave mistake. I will tell you honestly that all those who run into airlines telling people that BASA is one-sided, it is absolutely not correct” .

According to him, the reciprocity that we are talking about is nothing. I visited London, Virgin came up and everybody wanted to fly to Nigeria because this is the market.

“ How many of our people want to go there? I repeat, I don’t know and I say it openly; we went there. There are four airports in the UK and they are Heathrow, Gatwick, London City Airport, and Stansted Airports”

”We asked them, where do you want Med-View to fly? I did a study and I chose Gatwick. They are calling on Med-View to come back. The reason they are calling us to come back is because we opened up the business for the world to see and Nigerians were going and coming. “

“Internationally I had seven, regionally, I had seven. I had an average of 14. 14 means I was in Jeddah, Sierra Leone, Dubai, UK, and applied to Portugal.”

“ When I was in the UK, American people came to meet me and asked me when are you coming”?

“Nobody has said to us that we should not come, but you must meet their requirements. Nigerian airlines should come together.”

“ I divided the West Coast into two. The Anglophone and the Francophone and I touched all the regions to let them know that those who came to transact business in Nigeria were flew them  back home. Lagos used to be their London.”

In not too distance from now,Med-View Airline will be airborn.Sources revealed that management of the Airline is working assiduously to get the Airline back to the skies. When cornered by Aviationline.ng,chairman of the carrier,Alhaji Bankole declined comment.

The Airline was the darling of many air travelers both on the domestic, west coast and outside the continent of Africa. The Airline was known for its on time departure. No records of its staff being rude or impolite to passengers.

The Airline also supported many media organizations through exposure trips which helped to expand the scope of knowledge of correspondents on the Aviation Beat.In addition,it placed advertisements on the various news media including specialized publications that are solely devoted to aviation news.
