TWO INDIAN INTERCEPTED BY NIS FOR ENTERING NIGERIA ILLEGALLY

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has intercepted two Indian national entering Nigeria
without valid document at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos
According to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer, James Sunday,for
Comptroller General Nigerian Immigration, said the two men were among those being evacuated
from Nigeria.

Abdullahi Usman,Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service at the Murtala Muhammed
Airport in Lagos who disclosed this while briefing the press said”The two Indian both male were
intercepted during the screening of Indian national that were being evacuated from Nigeria
through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Usman said that while profiling the men, it was discovered that they entered Nigeria through
the land border and had visa on arrival application approval which they failed to present to
Immigration at the  border.
 
Usman further disclosed that the men had been in Cotonou Benin Republic for a month as they
had the stamp of that country dated 9th February 2020 when they left and entered Nigeria
illegally.
The Indian whose ages ate 29 and 32 did not present themselves for Immigration checks at the
border between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin saying that they would be prosecuted to serve
as deterrent to others who maybe contemplating such behavior.
 
Meanwhile 446 India nationals were evacuated from Nigeria on  Saturday  the 20th June, 2020
as part of the ongoing evacuation of foreign nationals as a result of the covid 19 pandemic.
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede MFR
warned migrants to desist from breaking the Immigration laws of countries of transit or
destination to avoid sanctions that may result into stopping them from coming to Nigeria or
payment of fees chargeable depending on the gravity of the offence committed and what the law
stipulates for any of such offence..
